Day 12. January 15, 2016. “Boundless Energy! Now Give Me A Damn Twinkie.” pt. 1 of 4
4:00 AM. Awake before the alarm. And I mean awake. Not groggy. Not mad. Time to get the coffee on. Drank 2 cups of black coffee.
5:45 AM. Tearing up my breakfast of 3 mini frittatas, ground beef and sweet potato hash and 1/2 an avocado. Made another cup of green tea for the road.
11:00 AM. Heated up my delicious albondigas. Good stuff!
12:00 Noon. Bailed from work early (it’s good to be king! sometimes…) Chewing on my celery and carrots for the drive north.
1:30 PM. Grabbed Barista boy and took a short trip to Sambalatte Torrefazione for a quick cup. I had a nice cup of black Sambanova blend, which is a blend of Fazenda Samambaia and Fazenda Catarina, which makes for a pretty darn good cup! All of the coffee at Sambalatte is Fair trade, Single-origin, and that’s a good thing. And it’s all roasted in-house.
2:30 PM. Stopped in at Trader Joe’s for a quick look around. All kinds of goodness to be found here! Finally found some cod without any extra ingredients and some other interesting little items. We’ll post those as they are being consumed. Three things that are kinda cool about living in a city: Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and Wild Oats.
4:00 PM. You know that I’m eating my apples right now.
6:00 PM. Dinner is served. Cooked up that cod we got from Trader Joe’s and served with a side of roast potatoes. Fish and Chips, if you will:
I talked about the Sodastream before, to make carbonated water, and adding a splash of cranberry juice to make a really good ‘spritzer’. I’m also brewing up some Teavana Silver Needle White Tea. This tea is really really good as a hot tea, but if you can, brew it, put it in the fridge to let it get cold, carbonate it with the Sodastream, and serve it in a tall glass over crushed ice with a lemon slice. Trust me on this, it’s freakin’ delicious!
9:00 PM. Off to bed. Saturday tomorrow but still have to get up early. *sigh*
